Big Second Half Lifts Crowder to 30-Point Victory

The Crowder College women’s basketball team delivered one of its most dominant offensive performances of the season Wednesday night, rolling past Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa, 105-75, on the road.

After a competitive first quarter that saw the Roughriders trail 22-17, Crowder flipped the momentum in the second period. A 30-point outburst before halftime gave the Roughriders a 47-45 lead at the break and set the tone for a dominant second half.

The third quarter proved to be the difference. Crowder exploded for 34 points while holding NOC-Tonkawa to just 16, stretching the advantage into double digits and never looking back. The Roughriders closed strong in the fourth, finishing with 105 points, surpassing the century mark for the second time this season.

Four starters reached double figures, led by Lexie Henry’s 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting, including four three-pointers. Barbara Perandini added 16 points and four assists, while Aubri Wilson stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Abbey Green chipped in 13 points on an efficient 5-of-8 shooting night.

Crowder’s depth was on full display. Kylee Cole provided a huge spark off the bench, knocking down four three-pointers on her way to 16 points. Anja Sodergard added eight points and four assists, and the Roughriders’ bench scoring helped fuel a balanced offensive attack.

As a team, Crowder shot 46.9 percent from the field and hit 15 three-pointers at a 38.5 percent clip. The Roughriders also dominated the glass, outrebounding NOC-Tonkawa 50-36, and took care of the basketball with just nine turnovers while forcing 18 on the other end.

Defensively, Crowder tallied 12 steals and limited NOC-Tonkawa to 41.1 percent shooting from the floor. Viola Tadja led the Mavericks with 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Josey Carney and Courtlyn Traxler each added 15-plus in the loss.

The win moves Crowder to 17-8 (4-4 Region 16) on the season.  The Rougriders travel to Moberly on Saturday for a 2:00 PM game.
