Hot Bats, Hard Lessons: Crowder Softball Tunes Up for Region 16 Run

Crowder College softball closed the regular season with an action-packed week, posting four wins in six games while flashing the offensive depth that has made the Roughriders a dangerous postseason team. Crowder now turns the page to the Region 16 Tournament, hosted by State Fair CC, entering Thursday as the No. 3 seed.


April 27 – Sweep vs. Missouri State–West Plains

Game 1: Crowder 13, MSU–West Plains 5
Crowder erupted for seven runs in the fifth to pull away in a slugfest.

  • Karlee McCallister delivered a monster performance, going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs, scoring four runs.
  • Callie Cooper added three hits and two RBIs, while Josilynn Wyrick came through with a two-run single.
  • In the circle, Olivia Hemme steadied things in relief, limiting the damage and striking out four.

Game 2: Crowder 10, MSU–West Plains 2
The Roughriders backed strong pitching with clean, timely offense.

  • McCallister stayed hot, blasting another home run and driving in four more runs.
  • Madelief Croonen went 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.
  • Jordan Goodell earned the win, allowing just one hit over 4.1 innings while keeping Crowder firmly in control.

April 29 – Sweep vs. Metropolitan CC

Game 1: Crowder 6, MCC 2
A balanced effort powered Crowder to another win.

  • Faith Evans supplied the big swing with a three-RBI hit, while McCallister chipped in two RBIs.
  • Tessa Groeneveld was sharp, throwing five strong innings and yielding just one earned run before Hemme shut the door.

Game 2: Crowder 11, MCC 8
Crowder answered early adversity with relentless offense.

  • McCallister starred again, going 3-for-4 with a home run, double, and three RBIs.
  • Layla Pasley drove in two and scored once, while Rachel Clemenson added a key RBI.
  • Hemme logged 6.2 innings in relief to seal the win after a rocky first frame.

April 30 – Swept at Jefferson College

Game 1: Jefferson 3, Crowder 1
Crowder out-hit Jefferson 10–9 but couldn’t capitalize, stranding runners throughout.

  • McCallister doubled and scored Crowder’s lone run, while Callie Cooper provided the RBI.

Game 2: Jefferson 8, Crowder 1
Jefferson broke the game open with a seven-run fifth inning.

  • Croonen drove in Crowder’s only run with a double, but the offense stalled against strong pitching.
