Roughrider Baseball Rolls Through Unbeaten Week
Crowder College baseball turned in a statement week, going a perfect 5–0 on the road while showing balance at the plate, power throughout the lineup, and steady pitching from both starters and the bullpen. The Roughriders outscored their opponents 53–23 across the week, opening with a win at Fort Scott Community College before sweeping a four-game series at Mineral Area College.
March 17 – Crowder 11, Fort Scott CC 6
Crowder opened the week with a come-from-behind win at Fort Scott, using late offense to pull away. Fort Scott jumped out to an early lead, but Crowder stayed within striking distance before erupting for five runs in the seventh inning and three more in the eighth.
Camren Stratton delivered the biggest swing of the day, launching a two-run home run as part of a 2-RBI performance. Ryan Stalony went 2-for-5, scored three times, and added an RBI, while William Beaudoin, Carson Bushman, Paxton Flagg, and Nathan Spengler each drove in runs. Crowder showed patience at the plate, drawing 10 walks.
On the mound, Micah Henson and Jackson Tuttle battled through traffic early, but the bullpen locked things down. Conner Hubbs earned the win with 1.1 scoreless innings, and Sawyer Owens closed the door by tossing 2.2 shutout innings with four strikeouts.
March 20 – Crowder 9, Mineral Area 7
The series opener at Mineral Area featured back-and-forth scoring, but Crowder’s power proved decisive. Ryan Stalony had a monster day, going 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, including a key two-run blast. Camren Stratton and Lawson Ward also homered, while Maddox Morrison and Rylan Michel helped set the table near the top of the order.
Eli Crecelius gave Crowder a solid start, striking out six in 3.2 innings. After Mineral Area surged ahead with a four-run sixth, Crowder answered late. Will Rushing steadied the game out of the bullpen, striking out five over two innings to earn the win.
March 20 – Crowder 13, Mineral Area 2
Crowder left no doubt in the second game of the day, scoring 13 runs over the first four innings. Maddox Morrison sparked the offense with a home run and two RBIs, while Rylan Michel also went deep and drove in two. Stratton, Stalony, Carlo Almendarez, Cale Winfrey, Paxton Flagg, and William Beaudoin all contributed RBIs as Crowder capitalized on Mineral Area miscues and walks.
On the mound, Seth Carlson was in command, throwing a complete-game five innings. He allowed just two runs on five hits and struck out seven, giving Crowder its most efficient pitching performance of the week.
March 21 – Crowder 6, Mineral Area 3
Saturday’s opener tested Crowder’s resilience. Trailing 3–2 late, the Roughriders erupted for four runs in the seventh inning to secure the win. The long ball played a major role, as Maddox Morrison, Rylan Michel, Camren Stratton, and Brady Nolen all homered.
After an early exit from starter Mason Schirmer, Jacob Allinder delivered a clutch relief performance. He tossed 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four to earn the victory.
March 21 – Crowder 14, Mineral Area 5
Crowder closed the week in emphatic fashion, breaking the game open with a nine-run eighth inning. Paxton Flagg led the charge with three hits and three RBIs, while William Beaudoin added two doubles and three RBIs. Camren Stratton and Ryan Stalony both homered, and Carson Bushman chipped in a two-run hit as Crowder sent 14 runs across on 12 hits.
Kaden Felan picked up the win on the mound, working seven innings and striking out four. Sawyer Owens finished the game in relief to seal the sweep.
