Crowder opened up Region 16 play on the road against Mineral Area Saturday afternoon. The Roughriders got off to a slow start offensively as they turned it over 12 times and only attempted 5 shots from the field in the first quarter falling behind 17-10. The second quarter Crowder struggled to make shots and Mineral Area went into the half with a 34-19 lead. The Roughriders came alive in the third quarter outscoring the Cardinals 20-11 to get within six at 45-39. Crowder cut the lead to three in the fourth quarter but could never get any closer giving Mineral Area the 63-50 win. Freshman Makayla White led Crowder with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Fiona Wilson chipped in 10 points. Nathalia Silva had 3 assists. Crowder falls to 10-8 and 0-1 in Region 16 play. The Roughriders are back home on Wednesday night against Evangel JV at 6:00 PM.
