Crowder opened the home portion of their schedule with a pair of wins in the Roughrider Classic. On Friday the Roughriders jumped out to a 20-6 first quarter lead and led 32-21 at the intermission. A dismal third quarter saw the Scot from Lyon College get back in the game and take a 41-40 lead heading into the final quarter. The two teams traded leads in the fourth quarter and Crowder played well down the stretch to come away with the 65-58 victory. Freshman Makayla White led the way with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks. Maia Wright added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals while Fiona Wilson chipped in 10 points. Jonisha Rolle pulled down 8 rebounds, while Nathalia Silva led with 5 assists and 2 steals.
The Roughriders had another great start on Saturday against Hesston College and led 20-8 after on quarter of play. Crowder outscored their opponents in the second quarter to hold a 32-17 lead at the half. The Roughriders outscored Hesston in the third and the fourth quarter to cap off the Roughrider Classic with a 68-46 win. A trio of freshman led the way for Crowder. Makayla White had another big game with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jonisha Rolle had 12 points and 8 rebounds. Teri Leaf had a career high 12 points and 4 assists. Sophomore Maia Wright had 9 points a team high 13 rebounds and 3 steals as well as 4 assists. Crowder improves to 3-1 on the season and travels to NOC-Tonkawa on Tuesday for a 5:30 PM game. They return home next weekend to host the Don Wilson Classic.
