Crowder opened up the new year with a 64-57 win over the #20 ranked and previously unbeaten Redlands Cougars. The Roughriders got off to a slow start but Nathalia Silva hit a bucket to beat the first quarter buzzer and tie it up at 17-17. Crowder outscored Redlands 11-9 in the second quarter to take 28-26 lead into the half. The Roughriders took a 46-39 lead after three quarters. Crowder led by as many as twelve points and held on for the 64-57 win. Freshman Fiona Wilson led Crowder with 17 points. Maia Wright added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Teri Leaf chipped in 11 points. Makayla White and Jonisha Rolle hauled in 8 and 7 rebounds respectively. Thathianna Sysavanh dished out 4 assists. Crowder improved to 9-6. The Roughriders travel to St Louis CC for a 1:00 PM game on Saturday.
