The Roughriders hosted Murray State on Tuesday night in Sneller Gymnasium. Murray State had the hot hand in the first quarter hitting four treys for a 16-12 lead. In the second quarter both teams traded buckets with Murray State hitting three more treys to hold a 36-32 lead at the intermission. Crowder tightened up their defense in the second half and outscored the visitors 15-9, capped off by a Sydney Linny shot at the buzzer to put Crowder up 47-45 heading into the final period. Once again Crowder played solid defensively and outscored Murray State 21-8 to come away with a 68-53 victory. Elle Williams had an all around good game leading Crowder with 22 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals. Maegan Bandimere had 12 points and 7 rebounds, while Linny chipped in 11. Maia Wright had a team high 10 rebounds and Bethaney Gilkey had 3 steals. Crowder improves to 3-3 on the season. The Roughriders host the Don Wilson Classic this weekend. The opening day games on Friday pair Seminole and North Arkansas at 5:00 PM and Coffeyville against Crowder at 7:00 PM. The games will wrap up on Saturday with North Arkansas taking on Coffeyville at 1:00 PM and Seminole against Crowder at 3:00 PM.
